Assets are designed FROM this file; if an asset conflicts, the asset is wrong. Written to be self-serve: Rob Wright (and his agent) work from this doc without Kevin in the loop. **Status: LOCKED 2026-09-26.** Identity is the Forged Manual refinement (was Concept 6 on the board). If a future asset needs to deviate, that's a decision for Kevin, not a default. Concept board (live, full exploration history + final): https://mog-brand-concepts.vercel.app --- ## 1. Team - **Kevin Vasquez**: owner, final say on brand and theology. - **Rob Wright**: content and advertising support, added 2026-09-26. Works self-serve from this doc via his own Hermes agent. ## 2. Positioning - **What it is:** A ministry brand for men, aimed at new and returning Christians. - **Who it's for:** Masculine, working men. Law enforcement, veterans, trades, bikers. Tattooed, gym, "300" energy. Men who feel church wasn't built for them. Kevin's call: mass appeal over niche segmentation, the forge metaphor works whether or not the viewer has military/LEO identity. - **Brand name in the mark:** **Man of God**, full name, everywhere. (@godly__man handles stay as-is; the mark says Man of God.) - **The job:** Make a hard man feel like Scripture was written for him without softening either one. - **What it is not:** Not modern-minimal. Not soft church pastels. Not extreme (no skulls, no militia). Not bro-ee: no hustle-bro tone, no locker-room posturing, no "alpha" language. - **Thesis:** Men are made, not born. Proverbs 27:17, iron sharpens iron. Fire imagery reads biblical on its own (refiner's fire, Pentecost) in a way tactical/military imagery does not. ## 3. Voice — brother-first Gritty, direct, but leads with "you belong here." Challenge comes second and is always an invitation up, never a shove down. - First person plural or "I've been there" beats commands from a pedestal. - Short declarative sentences. No exclamation points. No em dashes. - Scripture quoted straight, not paraphrased into slang. - Banned: "alpha," "grind," "king" as address, hustle-culture framing, shame as a hook. - Reference lines (approved register): - "I've sat where you're sitting. The seat next to me is open." - "God isn't waiting for the cleaned-up version of you." - "The standard isn't perfection. It's showing up again." - "The fire isn't punishment. It's the forge." ## 4. Identity — LOCKED ### Palette | Token | Hex | Use | |---|---|---| | Coal | `#0E0D0B` | Primary background | | Soot | `#1A140D` | Raised surfaces, cards | | Ember | `#C96F26` | The single accent. One hit per view. Never a second competing color. | | Ash | `#E8E4DC` | Primary text | | Smoke | `#9A938A` | Secondary text, labels | No blood-red, no olive/brass, no khaki. Those lived in the tactical exploration (Unit Patch, Stamped Steel, Field Manual) and are retired from the final identity. ### Type - **Display / wordmark: Alfa Slab One.** The only display voice. Do not mix in a second display face (stencil, condensed, etc.) on the same asset. - **Subheads, labels, stamps, UI: Oswald**, medium weight, uppercase, wide letterspacing (+15% to +22% on short labels). - **Data, dog tags, fine print: IBM Plex Mono.** - Captions on clips use Alfa Slab One, same as the wordmark, for consistency across video and static. ### Wordmark lockup `MAN` / `OF` (small, ember, wide-tracked) / `GOD` — stacked, Alfa Slab One, Ash on Coal. Optional ember rule (3px, ~140px wide) beneath. Optional Oswald eyebrow line above in Smoke ("Doctrine For The Returning Man") for doc covers and long-form only, not for clips or the primary logo lockup. ### Dog tag (secondary, personal/merch asset) Carried over from the Stamped Steel exploration, recolored to the locked palette. Soot plate, ember rule dot, IBM Plex Mono: NAME on line 1, VERSE reference on line 2 in ember. Use for merch, personal call-outs, or "which man are you" content, never as the primary logo. ### System rules 1. One display voice: Alfa Slab One. No stencil, no typewriter face, anywhere in the locked identity. 2. Ember is the only accent. One hit per frame, never stacked with a second accent color. 3. Manual/doctrine framing (an eyebrow line, an occasional rotated stamp) is a light accent for document covers only, set in Oswald, never the dominant device. 4. Texture over polish: subtle dark radial wash allowed (ember-tinted, from bottom), no gradients beyond that, no glow/bloom effects. 5. Tagline territory: "Iron Sharpens Iron." ## 5. Imagery - Real men, real texture: workshops, night streets, gyms, bikes, hands. Black-and-white or desaturated with ember as the only color hit. - Silhouettes and shadow over faces where possible; the brand is the man watching, not a model. - Banned: stock worship-hands-at-sunrise, glowing crosses, skulls, guns, prosperity-gospel gloss, tactical/military props (retired with the tactical direction). ## 6. Surfaces this doc governs 1. **Clip templates** (TikTok / IG / YT Shorts): Alfa Slab One captions, ember highlight words, bottom-center "MAN OF GOD" watermark in Oswald, ember. 2. **Channel identity**: avatars, banners, bios for @godly__man (TikTok/IG) and Man Of God (YouTube). Coal background, Ash/Ember wordmark. 3. **Digital deliverables**: Scripture Series book summaries, Stand Firm Series docs. Doc covers use the locked palette and type, with the Oswald eyebrow line for doctrine framing. Body text stays readable serif/sans; brand shows up in cover + headers only. 4. **Merch**: dog tag lockup as the go-to personal asset. ## 7. Exploration record (not in use, kept for history) Six concepts were built and reviewed before locking. Full visuals: https://mog-brand-concepts.vercel.app 1. **Forged** (blacksmith, original) — became the base of the locked identity. 2. **Unit Patch** (tactical/stencil) — Kevin's first pick, later superseded. 3. **Stamped Steel** (dog tag, gunmetal/blood) — too segmented (LEO/veteran-specific); the dog-tag *device* was kept, palette was not. 4. **Field Manual** (khaki/typewriter, issued doctrine) — informed the "doctrine framing as accent" rule; light palette not used for the primary identity. 5. **Steel Manual** (Field Manual x Stamped Steel) — cut, too cold/segmented for brother-first voice. 6. **Forged Manual** (Field Manual x Forged) — refined into the locked identity: single slab voice, manual framing demoted to accent. Kevin's reasoning for the final call: fire imagery is inherently biblical (refiner's fire, Pentecost) in a way tactical imagery is not, and the brand needs mass appeal, not a segment-specific (LEO/veteran-only) aesthetic. Warmth also matters for a brother-first voice; the tactical/steel directions read cold no matter what the copy said. ## 8. History - Prior amber-sunset kneeling-man logo (files in this folder): **retired 2026-09-26**. Kevin: "starting net new." Kept for archive only. - Aesthetic inputs Kevin approved: kingdomenlighten (IG) dark/gold clip style saved as `MOG-template-inspo.png`. - VaultCanon brand book was liked but ruled not applicable (too quiet/modern for this audience). Its discipline carries over: one accent per view, tokens over vibes, banned-list kept current. --- *v1 locked 2026-09-26. Next step: apply to a real clip template and one channel avatar as the first live assets, then extend to the Scripture Series doc covers.*
